For over 50 years, MCCH has relied on the support of benefactors like you.   People have provided support and encouragement through financial contributions and volunteering their services.   For more information about each type of contribution, please click one of the following:

Important Tax Information

MCCH is exempt from Federal Income Tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.   Contributions to MCCH are deductible to the full extent provided by law.  When you make a contribution in any form, you will receive a gift receipt letter stating the amount of the donation, as well as the dollar amount of the value of anything you may have received in return for it.  Following are brief descriptions of different types of donations.

For a cash gift of any amount, you will receive a cash receipt letter stating the amount of your gift and whether you received anything of value in return for it.  An example of this type of gift is a donation for an auction item at the annual fund raising dinner.  The value you receive for that donation is the fair market value of item you receive, such as a quilt.

For a gift of property (real estate, property, art, vehicle, etc.), you will receive a letter with a description of the items(s).  Check with your tax advisor regarding the tax forms required to be filed and/or the necessity of an appraisal in order to claim a deduction.

Memorial or Honor Gifts – A gift in any form can be designated as a gift in memory of a family member or friend, or to honor a special relationship or occasion in the life of a friend or loved one.  As with other cash donations, you will receive a cash receipt letter stating the amount of your gift and whether you received anything of value in return for it.

Financial Donations

MCCH operates from the generous donations of individuals and churches. Gifts of all kinds are welcome. In addition to cash gifts which are used to meet our current and long-term needs, other forms of donations include property, stock, estates and trusts.   Our staff would be happy to visit with you to explain the variety of forms of donations available, as well as possible tax consequences of each form.

2007 Endowment Campaign
Over $120,000 Added to Endowment Fund

Thanks to the contributions by people like you, our year-long endowment campaign has ended with not only over $90,000 in endowment fund contributions but also an additional $30,000 grant from the Wichita Community Foundation (WCF).

WCF provided an opportunity for local nonprofits to strengthen their organizations through building endowments, making funds available year after year through the distribution of interest earned. Jim Moore ( Executive Director of WCF) emphasized that, in addition to funding specific request for "needs", this effort would help increase the ability of nonprofits to fulfill their missions. That help came in the form of a challenge grant to encourage charities to build their endowment funds.

MCCH qualified for the grant and accepted the challenge of raising $90,000 over a 12-month period. Having reached that goal in mid-May 2007, MCCH received $30,000 in matching funds from WCF.

"One of the strongest benefits of this challenge was the way the Board of Trustees became engaged in reaching the goal. More than 50% of the funds raised were directly from board members; most members also actively solicited gifts for the remainder of the funds needed," reported Shellee Morrison, Executive Director of MCCH.

Because MCCH is a residential facility for children who need safe and stable homes, a good portion of the income from the endowment will be used to maintain the 13 acres, 3 homes and 6 other buildings used in the services provided for at-risk children and their families.
