OUR PURPOSE

As a ministry of the Churches of Christ, the mission of MCCH is to equip children and their families with skills for handling personal problems and pressures by promoting Emotional, Social, Physical and Spiritual Strength through meeting those personal needs. Children are placed at MCCH through various agencies or private referrals. The children come to MCCH with an array of problems, ranging from physical and/or sexual abuse to truancy and/or chemical dependency problems.

The Treatment Team is made up of various professionals, from Cottage Parents, Therapists, and the Director of Services -- all committed to treating the child and the family as a whole, with the goal of putting the child back into the family.

At the current time, our services are focused on serving young ladies.  However, if you have a young man in need of the same type of assistance, you may be interested in Youth Horizons, an organization in Wichita dedicated to meeting the needs of boys with severe individual or family challenges.  For more information, click here.

OUR PROGRAMS

Thanks to the financial support of many people over the years, MCCH has 3 "cottages", each of which currently serves a specific program.

The Christian Family Cottage is where a child is placed upon arriving at MCCH. This program is located in the Harold Cottage and is a structured program with a Level system for the cottage. A total number of seven girls, ages 6 through 18, may be housed in this cottage.

The Intensive Life Skills Cottage (ILS) is located in the Nelson Cottage. This is an independent living program for females, ages 16 through 21. The program is designed for girls to learn the necessary skills to become independent while maintaining adult supervision. Learning responsibility is an important aspect of the program.

Barrett Cottage is the relief cottage where children are placed when live-in houseparents have a "relief break". All of the cottage parents are on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
